Happy Father's Day Rick

Poor Rick was post-call on Father's day (went to work at 4:30 am came home the next day at 11:00am and he never slept or even sat down). That is why I love this picture. He can barely smile or even keep his eyes opened. It captures the reality of our life. Rick is always tired and going on very little sleep. But he is an awesome dad. Even though he is so tired, he will always stay awake with the kids, play with them, and nap when they nap. Also, he always puts us first. Since he so rarely see us, he has repeatedly turned down offers to play golf, football, soccer, and attend pro sporting events. I love him and my own father who is also amazing.

baby blessing

Rick blessed baby Matthew on June 8th. And we were so lucky to have both sets of parents come down for the special event. We had so much fun spending time with Grandmas and Grandpas. Of course, Chrissie loved having them in town, but, was a bit overwhelmed by all the love. Rick and I love our parents and feel so blessed that they made the trip to come down. Please, excuse the fuzziness of some of the photos. I didn't realize their was film/dirt on the lens of my camera.

Matthew is the happiest little guy. He smiles so easy; he just melts my heart. He is so different from Chrissie (besides the fact that he's a boy). Like most boys, He can't just lay around. He is constantly kicking. I'm afraid I will have my hands full once he becomes mobile.

An "Adventure"

A couple of weeks ago Rick took a couple days off work. And for one of those days we decided to go on an "adventure," or so we told Chrissie. We really just went to a campsite for a day. The campsite was beautiful with tall cottonwoods and a running stream (two things not easily found in Phoenix). Chrissie pretty much loved our camping excursion except for the "buggies" or flies/mosquitoes . We don't see many "buggies" in Phoenix. So, they are quite a phenomenon to her. The "buggies" absolutely terrified her and she had nightmares about them for awhile after. Other than occasional "buggie" freak outs, she walked around bare foot with her binoculars singing, "I'm going on a bear hunt," played in the water, and very much enjoyed the rare treat of a soda. And a minor note on her beautiful hair: she will not let me touch it. That means no pigtails, no bows, no braids...NOTHING. However, I keep trying.
