The other day on our drive to church I was having one of those "I'm failing as a mom" moments. Terribly unproductive but they still pop up and get me down. I was sitting in the front while the kids were jabbering in the back. All of sudden Chrissie began saying, "My mom is the best," and then she listed all the things that I do. I was shocked and humbled. She brought sunshine into my grey morning. She always does.
With turning six, Chrissie has claimed all sorts of things one being that she must help me with the 'kids.' Jane goes to her for comfort. Matthew goes to her for protection at kindergarten. I know I can rely on her for help, for honesty, and obedience. She is such a good example to me and I feel blessed to have her as my daughter.

Aren't we lucky? Thank heaven for little girls as sweet as Chrissie. Moments like that can certainly turn our day around. Yesterday, after hanging a rope from a tree branch for Mitchell, he said, "Mom, you make the very bestest swings in the whole world!" and I felt like I'd just won the lottery seeing how happy he was. Definitely made my day.
You are an amazing mother. Forget about those failing mommy moments and cling to the words of your wise six year old!
Children are so easily touched by the Spirit to say the right thing at the right time. I love her so much. And I remember a little girl who, as she snugled up next to me on a sofa, looked up and said (for I was very overweight)....."I don't like my Moms too skinny. I like them just like you." And I knew you meant it. That was the best part :)
