Chrissy is very rarely, well, Chrissie. For the majority of the day Chrissie is usually some other lovely character that she has read about in books, seen in a movie, or heard about. However, she does not leave the rest of us in our own dreary lands. Happily, she brings us all into her fanciful land by assigning us a character and then insisting we act our part (fortunate for Matthew he is always "baby something")
After Disney World she was a princess. Rick was her prince. I was usually the godmother. And Matthew was the "baby godmother." However, the roles were never permanent. At times, I was the prince and Rick the godmother. And we lived in a castle.
At Christmas, she was elf Jingle. Rick was Santa Clause. I was the mama bear. And Matthew was the "baby bear" (naturally). Daisy (our dog) was bells the reindeer (all characters from a made-up story I would tell her at bedtime). And we lived in a cottage.
After we acted out the nativity at Christmas, she was Mary. I was "Moses," ("Chrissie, I believe it is Joseph." "No, mom, it's Moses.") And Matthew was baby Jesus.
Presently our roles are constantly changing by the minute. I go from being a prince, to a bear, to "Moses", to Mary Poppins, and more recently, to being "Chrissie," all in one day.
Chrissie has taken to the idea of being a "mommy." According to Chrissie, this role grants her such privileges as drinking from a glass cup, eating from a "glass" plate, eating with a "glass" fork, walking across the street without holding hands, and not sitting in her car seat because she is too big. Her response to every wish is, "because I'm a mommy." It's no surprise, she is more often the "mommy" than any other character.
How lucky I am to always be in her land of make believe. It's a far better way to spend the day.

The Moses thing is funny and I'm sure Rick makes a lovely Godmother.
