After spending some time in the water and building castles, Chrissie decided "swimming" in the sand to be a most enjoyable pass time and she would leave tracks all the way from our towels to the ocean like a mamma sea turtle. This sand swimming is what caused her to make a most excellent discovery. She ran to me squealing with delight, holding something in her hand-a tiny seashell. To this little Arizona girl a sea shell is a rare treasure. So, she continued for the rest of the afternoon collecting sea shells. No more sand castles, no more wave chasing, no more sand swimming; she had some serious work to do-collect sea shells.

I'm 34 and STILL think finding a sea shell is a treasure. It's my favorite thing to do at the beach, especially with my girls. (Have I told you my conch shell story? If I haven't, remind me. It's worth hearing.)
