Week in Nurnberg Part II: Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Rothenburg is this amazing Medieval town.
A little history as to why it has been preserved and avoided modernization.  In 1631, during the Thirty year's war, about 40,000 Catholic troops were stationed there. After the winter they left the town poor and nearly empty, and in 1634 the Black Plague killed many more of its inhabitants. Without any money or power, Rothenburg stopped growing thus preserving its 17th century state.
Romanticism artists of the 1880s rediscovered Rothenburg, bringing tourism to the town. Laws were created to prevent major changes to the town.

Rothenburg is known for their Schneeballs (snow balls).

We celebrated Mason's Tenth Birthday later that evening.
