Every year the Barrow's Woman Foundation puts together a charity ball to raise money for the BNI. You typically don't attend this until your chief resident (unless your an attending or donator). Rick's a chief and so we were invited to go.
Now going to a ball sounded exciting and fun. However, finding an inexpensive, modest dress was not. I just about gave up. Luckily, a few days before the event, I found a simple black dress at Last Chance. I immediately contacted my personal fashion consultant (my sister Chandra) who gave me some great advice on how to spruce it up.
I'm not a make-up person. Never have been. The most I wear is mascara and that's only for a special occasion, like church...maybe. Definitely not everyday. I decided for this event I should wear more than just mascara. So I went on-line and read anything and everything about "how to wear make-up."
As for the kids, our dear friend, Barbara Hettinger whom the children adore, offered to come over and watch all the kids. Not only did she watch them, she crafted with them, played with them, and read to them. It was nice going on a date knowing that my kids were so well taken care of.
The center piece at each table was this tall glass vase with green orchids topped by a light and lamp shade.
I loved that Rick wore a bow tie that he had to hand tie. And that he knew how-to was impressive. I loved his red plaid suspenders. The kids were mesmerized with his tuxedo. He looked so handsome.

Anna's husband, Tim, is a co-resident with Rick and good friends. We'll miss them.
I was obsessed with the vases that held flowers mixed with succulents. That's become my new favorite combo.
