About a year ago I read the book, "To Buy or not to Buy Organic." It had the whole clean-fifteen and dirty-dozen lists, which Martha Stewart recently published in her magazine. And then about a month ago I watched the documentary,
Food Inc. ( I felt sick), the combination of these two has made me join our local CSA (community supported agriculture) , buy organic meats, and no-hormone milk (someday I'll afford the the un-homogenized milk...someday).
The basket of seasonal, pesticed-free vegetables has forced my family and I to eat better and has involved a lot of chopping/cooking, which Chrissie and Matthew have gladly volunteered to help me with.

We made strawberry jam last week, which has nothing to do with the CSA. The strawberries came from Costco. Full of pesticides, I'm sure. However, Rick bought four cases and I couldn't let them go to waste.

Matthew multitasking: mashing strawberries (using what he liked to call a "hammer") with one hand and eating the strawberries with another.

And this is what Jane did while he made strawberry jam. A little bit of tummy time.
Matthew will lay down next to her and yell, "Tummy Time!"
She continues to get compliments on her very strong neck and smiles. She's a very smiley girl.

So I'm thinking I need to go ahead and watch...I'm sure when I finally do I'll be calling you with more questions on CSA!!! Love that you are making strawberry jam, yum! Whenever we come home with homeade jam from my moms all of my kids end up eating at least 2 pb and j's a day until it's gone!
you are now the third person I know doing CSA... I think I may have to look into it a little more. And I love matthew's multi-tasking, sounds like my kind of boy :)
