Sight seeing in Sweden

(castle in Kalmar, Sweden)

Unfortunately, we chose the places to visit in Sweden on a whim.  Typically before going on trip we spend a lot of time researching the area.  However, since this trip was last minute and we had no internet access, we had to guess.  We would look at a map and say, "That city looks good lets go there."
Jonkoping, Sweden
City on a large lake.  We mainly did some winter clothes shopping here.  Not so fun for the kids.  However, true to form, they found some sticks, leaves, rocks and entered into another world of play and seemed satisfied.
The kids and I in front of church in Jonkoping-even the churches have a red and white theme.

Grenna, Sweden
known for its red and white peppermint candy or polkagris, stick candy.  Again the red and white theme continues even in their candy.  I wish we had visited this town earlier in the day.  It was a lovely small town.
Grenna Polkagriskokeri: tradional polkagris candy shop.
They make the stick candy on premises still using the same old fashion recipe. Seeing all the red and white candy got me excited for Christmas.

Matthew and Chrissie entertained themselves with dirt. In the middle of Grenna. In the middle of Sweden.

Kalmar, Sweden
A city on the east coast of Sweden.

Kalmarslott: Kalmar Castle, dating back to the 12th century.

Matthew has a thing for cannons.
He also has a thing for sticks.
