Lastly, we had some excursions that involved hiking, campfires and playing in Sweden's Natural Reserve Parks. The first Park we went to was a couple of hours away. However, it was a Moose Park (or so we thought) and we were determined to see a moose. Well, upon arrival we realize that it was actually a National MOSS (not moose) Reserve. So, we ended up seeing some beautiful moss and had a good laugh.
Chrissie brewed up some soup that had leaves (the onions), hazlenuts, grass (parsley), and dirt (pepper). She stayed and cooked the soup while Matthew hunted for the ingredients.
We even roasted some good ol' marshmellows. Sadly, they tasted nothing like real marshmellows but what is a campfire without smores!
The next Reserve we visited was five minutes away from where we were staying. I believe these hikes in the woods and campfires were the kids favorite part of the trip (in addition to star watching).
Matthew helping light the fire...again there was giddiness.
Jane ate lots of potato chips and hoarded the bag. She is also saying "cheese" for the photo, very appropriate.
Jane insisted roasting her own marshmellow. I tried to persuade her otherwise even using chocolate but she would have nothing of it. She wanted to hold the stick and be just like her brother and sister.
