A day in Oberammergau

(walking to Oberammergau)

Oberammergau was the next town over from where we were staying. It is famous for its production of the Passion Play and woodcarvers.
A bit on the Oberammergau Passion Play, which was first performed in 1634, and was the result of a vow made by the inhabitants of the village that if God spared them from the effects of the bubonic plague then sweeping the region they would perform a passion play every ten years. The last passion play was summer 2010.

Matthew likes to stuff his backpack very full, he gets very angry if it is otherwise.

Loving all the pictures and blogs. Makes me want to go back. Mom and I went to the Passion Play many years ago and fell in love with Oberammergau and the cute houses with the window boxes filled with flowers and the elaborate scenes painted on the houses.
