Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, a village in the Bernese alps: cows with bells around their neck, flowers everywhere, majestic mountains with green all the way to the top backed by snowy peaks, old church with clock tower, cobble streets-the most beautiful place I've ever visited.
Chalet Horner: our room had a view of one of the water falls and the train (a definite plus for Matthew). We woke every morning to the sound of cow bells.

We took a tram up one of the mountains to hike to Murren.
Behind Chrissie are the "three peaks" of the Bernese Alps: Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau.

A quick observation of Matthew, he is in so few pictures for two reasons: one, he is always moving, two, he is camera shy (or obstinate)
Such joy to see cows grazing in the alps. I've never seen such happy cows nor have I ever tasted such delicious milk.
A simple pig farm that we came upon during our hike.
Outdoor chessboard in Murren (and in other villages). I thoroughly enjoyed seeing 10 year old girls playing a game of chess with chess pieces the size of Jane.

Later that evening after our hike, we took a train into Interlaken.
The photo below is of a Japanese family taking pictures of the children and then giving them gifts. For some reason many Asians enjoyed taking pictures of the kids.

Such beautiful pictures! I'm so jealous, I LOVE Switzerland. So glad you are blogging so we can all live vicariously through you. Especially those of us who have nothing but beige rocks and stucco out our windows... :)
Oh, sooo beautiful! Your hike looks straight out of the Sound of Music. I spent a few days in Interlaken when I was in high school--I agree one of the most beautiful places on earth. I spent an entire morning hiking and picking wild strawberries. How can you not love a place where the cows actually wear cow bells?! Thanks for the photos.
