linderhof castle

Linderhof: another of king ludwig's castles but the smallest. It is horribly ornate with gold trimmings filling every inch of space. He had an infinity for the french and mimicked the Versailles (for instance, the wall of mirrors room). And each room had a color theme: pink room, blue room, green room, etc. He had peacock statues set out to notify others when that he was there. The most fascinating feature was the sinking dining table. It was on a sort of elevator that lowered it beneath the ground to the servants. The servants would then put the meal on the table and send it back up. All this was done for his desire to be alone.

Rick and Grandpa (good men) took the kids on a hike to the weisekirche (white church) while Cindy, KLynn, and I went on a search for dirndls and lederhosens.

Thanks for all the photos--I visited Linderhof Castle and Oberomerbau when I was 17. So fun!

Crazy to see the cousins hangin' out in that kind of setting. Plus I think these will be the only pictures we get of the Sckrhos. Talk about falling off the face of the planet.
